Yes, we saw Fiddler on the Roof this week.
Topol is making his farewell tour, after having reprized the role some 2,500 times. And we were able to get seats. Since he started in '68, and did the movie in '71 (and was at least in his mid thirties then) he's at least in his mid 70s. Still going strong though, he has an amazing voice, and wonderful delivery (and humor). (Just checked and he was born in '35. Hope I'm able to sing and dance for 3 hours every day when I turn 74). The rest of the cast was astoundingly good as well.
And of course on our way to see Fiddler, we got a flat tire. On the side of a 4 lane highway. Fortunately, we'd planned on having to walk farther after finding a parking spot. So we were able to get to our seats with a few minutes left before the curtain raised. I just had to survive with some grease on my hands through the musical.
Then on the way home there was a torrential downpour. As in literally could not see the road for the rain at some points. We pulled off the road shortly after crossing the Missouri border, and just waited till it calmed down a bit (and for the windows to unfog). This made us rather late, but the wonderful elderly couple that babysat Bo was again, wonderful, and didn't fuss at all (the couple, not Bo, he'd been asleep for about 6 hours at that point).
All this in the same day. Made me glad I'd taken a half-day off the next day as a precaution.
